This size is excellent to knit cows, shawls, sweater, flat panels for baby blankets, placemats, etc...However, we believe this size loom is too big to knit a hat: use the green round loom for adult hat!

Perhaps if you use a DK yarn without insertIng extra-pegs you can have a acceptable size hat.

By adding extra-pegs in this loom you will have a 3/8" loom and the double of stitches.
